However, on-page SEO often entails technical skills. Why? Not a lot of people are HTML enthusiasts. This is often what needs to be tweaked to do an excellent job in optimizing web pages. Visit now - Picmoney.com
What if a geek friend already did the on-page optimization and now you want to know how you can contribute to the "search engine goodness" of your website. Off-page optimization is the next step. And the results you will have to pine for are one-way backlines. Why? This is how many of the major search engines such Goggle, Yahoo! and MSN rank websites. The more backlines from relevant sites with good page rank, the merrier.

So how exactly do you gather backlines? It's not an easy task but it's definitely less nerve-wracking than HTML if you are not the techie type. Here are some off-page SEO tips:

1. Article Marketing

Quality content has been discovered to be real king. Everyone is hungry for fresh and quality info and providing it will make backlines go pouring in. It helps a lot to be a keen writer to be successful on this endeavor. Also, practice the proper way of using a resource box. It should only include a website that contains information relevant to the article you submit to article directories.

2. Forum Participation

Look for forums that are relevant to your website's content and keep on sharing information that will be indispensable for the members of the forums. Your signature or that tag-along message at the last part of each of your posts is what will work for your off-page SEO campaign. Keep it simple and make sure that it conveys something about your website. Learn how to hyperlink to make it easy for the people who want to visit your site.

3. Blogging

Blogs or web logs are now the most popular weapons of SEO experts. Aside from being easy-to-update, they don't require a too formal tone, which is what many readers are into. Informal dialog which can be accomplished through readers leaving comments and the blog author replying to the comments is what also keeps blogs fresh and search engine friendly. Maintaining a blog that's again relevant to your website's content will keep the search engines in touch with your site. Don't forget to have a link on your main website from your blog.

The secret to be successful in carrying out these off-page SEO methods is to be consistent. Submitting quality articles to websites at least two to three times a week and regularly producing content for your personalized blog is a surefire way to make your website stand out. Forum participation should also be something done more frequently since it will not only help you up your website's popularity with the search engines but also make you learn new stuff from other forum members' participation. Also, if you discover that you don't enjoy these stuff, there's always a plan B - hire someone to do them for you!

About the author

To Know More Visit Now

Click here to Start Your Home Based Business Ezine Article Submission Software

Visit here to get answer about Search Engine Optimization Seo Services Company

Seo Company India

<trackback:ping>http://todayseo.com/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=464&key=4db83ffb</trackback:ping>

How To Avoid The Google Sandbox

Karl Sultana - Well first of all remember that Google Sandbox is a term or a description. It's not a location or a place!

When your website is no longer useful according to Google, your rankings won't increase! When that happen, some refer to it as being Sandboxed.

You sort of get stuck and it seems stuck for life.

So how to get out?

Well, answer is super easy, if you have been reading what Google wants. That's quality websites. So is your website quality? Do you know what quality means?

Quality means it's good value, useful for your visitor, not for you.

A person landing on your website looking for dog food after searching dog food on Google - will your website satisfy him in every form and shape?

These are questions you need to answer.

By adding articles, unique and relevant to what the searcher wants.

By maybe using a blog, a very common way nowadays to add content and provide useful tips, updates, news, anything useful and valuable for your visitor.

Quality here also means avoiding things that annoys visitor, like tons of popups, duplicate content like same articles he already read somewhere else.

A forum is something your visitor may find useful. Depends but forums are general very common, everyone likes to chat with other like minded people.

So is there a secret to get out of the Sandbox? No.

You will feel better, you get high rankings, you get more referrals, you get more business, better conversion and the list of positive things that can happen by having a quality site is endless.

Other things to consider for a quality site is updating it regularly with new, fresh and unique content. Plus make use of proper meta title and description because these will be read by searcher. They are very important. That's first thing he will see before your website.

If he cannot figure out or gets confused before he has not yet visited your website, he is already bored. Our lives are boring by default, so try not to make them more. These things work and help. Make use of them.

It's impossible that if you follow these guidelines your website remains in the sandbox. One thing you should not do is get obsessed as to whether you are still in sandbox or not.

If your get obsessed with having a quality website you will see amazing results.

The articles you put on your website or blog can be submitted to article directories as well. A forum once it has lots of members will generate lots of new pages on your site. The bigger your website, the more pages you have the better chances are people will find one of these pages in the search engines.

In fact one of the keys to get traffic from search engines is to have a big site.

About the author
Check out Karl Sultana's search engine optimization free ecourse. A page that you cannot edit at all.

Why it get ranks? You get backlinks!

Even though for certain very high competitive keywords you need content - therefore the affiliate link will be difficult to rank for high competitive keywords - but it still can rank for other keywords.

Someone who can add content has an advantage - but your goal if you have a landing page - is to add more pages - you can still add content by starting a blog, creating an articles page full of articles...

Then link to these pages from the bottom menu of your landing page, so spiders crawl them. Put a sitemap on your website and put a link to them.

So a landing page the only difference is that you don't have too many content on the page.

You can still add content on your website.

So landing page, one page salesletter or even an affiliate link can still get high rankings. The landing page or one page salesletter even for high competitive keywords. The affiliate link though your best bet will be on low competitive keywords.

An affiliate link you cannot even add content by creating a blog - that's why sometimes if you are an affilaite it's better to create your own website and sell from your own site...

Rarely do you find affiliates trying to get highly ranked their affiliate link. I am not in any way an affiliate marketing expert, but for search engine optimization purposes your best bet is to sell as an affiliate from your own website or blog.

Things like keyword density, h1 tags, keyword prominence or the one I hate most, seo copywriting should be things you avoid. With seo copywriting you'll have tons of keywords but you have a website that does not convert traffic into prospects, customers or leads...

No need to waste time on these things, which like keyword density no longer effect your rankings. Focus on quality content, copy that coverts traffic into sales. Have a jam packed content rich website as much as possible - plus stay on topic. If you sell dog food, first and foremost have a dog food "authority" site.

Only then you may expand to other subniches and talk about them, like pets maybe...

But stay relevant to your main topic. Doing so when you write content you automatically write it "perfect" instead of "robot written" with tons of keywords and so forth.

It is a much better approach. So things to avoid are seo copywriting, keyword density and keyword prominence which is like keyword density more or less.

About the author
Check out Karl Sultana's improve search engine rankings tips. An algorithm change or an update can leave many a webmaster in tears.

However, I often like to sneak in through the back door. So today I'm going to reveal to you some of my Google secrets. After you look closely, you will find that there is much more to Google than meets the eye and I want you to take advantage of every resource. So, let's look behind the scenes into Google's lab.

Google Base

Google Base was launched in November of 2005. Google base describes itself as "a place where you can add all types of information that we'll host and make searchable online". Now, if that isn't a webmaster's dream, I don't know what is.

Your item could be almost anything: your products, research papers, articles, or press releases. You can describe all of your items so that you can zone in on your targeted visitor. In addition, your items may also get included in the main Google search index, Froogle, and Google Local.

Anyone with a Google account can use this service, so why not give it a try. Google base is the perfect way to get an additional audience for your content. To find out more about Google Base, visit http://base.google.com/base/about.html

Google Local

Getting your products into Google local can put your items in front of some serious buyers. People often go to Google Local looking for a specific item or service in a particular geographic area. So, if you own a small business, Google Local is the perfect opportunity to increase your reach without spending lots of advertising dollars.

Froogle

Froogle offers searchers a directory of products by category, a searchable index of online products, and the ability to narrow searches by price range. By putting your products into Froogle, you can get some very targeted, qualified traffic to your website.

So, how do you get into Froogle? Well, Google has already been actively searching the web for online product catalogs. For many online merchants, there's a good chance that Froogle already has some of your products listed.

However, one of the best ways to get into the Froogle directory is by providing them with a data feed that lists your products, descriptions, pricing, and URLs. This allows you to fully optimize your listings.

To get the most out of Froogle, you'll want to make your product description clear and enticing. Create titles that not only have targeted keywords, but also encourage the visitor to click-through to your site.

Once they are at your site, it is important to upsell and cross-sell. Otherwise you will be throwing potential profits down the drain. Make the most out of every Froogle referral.

When someone does decide to make a purchase from you, be sure to capture their name and email address. This way you can develop a relationship with them and offer them related products in the future.

Now, onto a facet of Google that you certainly won't want to miss out on.

Google Blog Search

This is one of the best ways to get some additional listings in Google. If you have a website, why not start a blog. By starting a blog, you can be indexed on a number of blog searches, including Google Blog search. This area of marketing is largely untapped, so it is the perfect time to get your particular niche grounded in these specialty search engines.

To get your blog listed you simply need to ping an updating service such as weblogs.com. It's as simple as that. If you are using Wordpress, you can set it up to where your blog pings the major services every time you make a post.

You can have multiple listings in the Google Blog Search because they list specific posts as well as entire blogs.

Google Video

Google Video allows you to have your very own tv show on one of the largest search engines on the internet. This is a form of multimedia that is certainly gaining popularity online. Right now it is in a growth stage and it's one of the perfect times to get in and be one of the first one's in your particular market. Videos are also a great selling point if you have a product that can be demonstrated. With Google video, you can now have your very own infomercial indexed in the search engines. Of course, you'll want to provide some great content too. To check out this new technology, go to http://video.google.com

Google News

Want to get your article and even your picture into Google News? Well, it's really not that hard. The first step is to go to www.americanchronicle.com, Scroll down to the very bottom of the page and click on the link that says "submit work". From there you can sign up to be a contributor.

If accepted as a contributor, you will then be able to submit articles along with a picture. Many of their articles are syndicated on Google News and will be available to the millions of searchers who go to Google News each and every day.

If you are looking to get your press release into Google News, all you have to do is submit your press release to prleap. As you can see, there's certainly no need to pay money to get into Google News.

Now that you know about the many faces of Google, you will be able to use many of these hidden tactics to your advantage. This update is very strange however and things are happening that are a lot different from anything I have ever seen before.

I first noticed a difference when I went and looked at one of my websites which is only three weeks old. The site in question had previously had no page rank due to being a very new website and in those three weeks since its launch, I had probably obtained twenty or thirty one-way backward links pointing to it. To my amazement it was now showing as a page rank five.

I have a number of websites one of which is around five years old, it has over four thousand backward links and is a page rank four. After seeing my new site go straight in at page rank five, I quickly went to see how this older site had faired in this new update, it had not changed.

After checking all of my websites, I have realised that the sites which had a page rank have all stayed the same, however the ones which had previously a page rank of zero, now have a page rank and have seemingly been a part of the new update.

A few hours later I was looking at one of my other websites which has a homepage page rank of two. This is where things began to become a bit weird. I noticed that its external pages had now become a page rank four but the homepage was still only a PR2. What is all that about? The backward links are mainly pointing to the homepage so how can this page have a lower PR than the external pages?

I thought I knew a little bit about page rank but this has thrown me some what.

I then started to look at the various posts in different search engine forums and other people were writing that they have experienced the same as what I had with their websites.

It maybe of course that what we are seeing is just the start of a big page rank update, which is what I am hoping. What I also find quite strange is that there is normally quite a large break between updates. On average this can be anywhere between three and four months. If my memory serves me correct, I am virtually sure that we have only just seen a page rank update in the middle of February. Are we now going to see more regular updates?

I have heard as I am sure you have, that there have been a few changes at google in the last few weeks. They have been rolling out what they call bigdaddy and this could certainly have something to do with it.

I am going to keep an eye on further changes as some people that I read about in the forums, did state that they had seen updates to their older websites as well as their newer sites. I am still waiting and wondering if it will happen.

I have to say that so far this latest update has been a good one for me personally and I will continue in my quest to obtain as many quality one-way backward links pointing to my websites as possible.

This form of website promotion has worked for me in the past and in my opinion is far better than joining any link exchange scheme.

Steve Hill

Bookmark this article:
Article Source: http://wah-articles.work-from-home-directory.com/
About the Author
quit smoking tips

<trackback:ping>http://todayseo.com/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=267&key=20fbc034</trackback:ping>

How to Protect Your Search Engine Rankings

Your website's ranking on search engines is a vital element of your overall marketing campaign, and there are ways to improve your link popularity through legitimate methods.

Unfortunately, the Internet is populated by bands of dishonest webmasters seeking to improve their link popularity by faking out search engines.

The good news is that search engines have figured this out, and are now on guard for "spam" pages and sites that have increased their rankings by artificial methods. When a search engines tracks down such a site, that site is demoted in ranking or completely removed from the search engine's index.

The bad news is that some high quality, completely above-board sites are being mistaken for these web page criminals. Your page may be in danger of being caught up in the "spam" net and tossed from a search engine's index, even though you have done nothing to deserve such harsh treatment. But there are things you can do - and things you should be sure NOT to do - which will prevent this kind of misperception.

Link popularity is mostly based on the quality of sites you are linked to. Google pioneered this criteria for assigning website ranking, and virtually all search engines on the Internet now use it. There are legitimate ways to go about increasing your link popularity, but at the same time, you must be scrupulously careful about which sites you choose to link to. Google frequently imposes penalties on sites that have linked to other sites solely for the purpose of artificially boosting their link popularity. They have actually labelled these links "bad neighbourhoods."

You can raise a toast to the fact that you cannot be penalized when a bad neighbourhood links to your site; penalty happens only when you are the one sending out the link to a bad neighbourhood. But you must check, and double-check, all the links that are active on your links page to make sure you haven't linked to a bad neighbourhood.

The first thing to check out is whether or not the pages you have linked to have been penalized. The most direct way to do this is to download the Google toolbar at http://toolbar.google.com. You will then see that most pages are given a "Pagerank" which is represented by a sliding green scale on the Google toolbar.

Do not link to any site that shows no green at all on the scale. This is especially important when the scale is completely grey. It is more than likely that these pages have been penalized. If you are linked to these pages, you may catch their penalty, and like the flu, it may be difficult to recover from the infection.

There is no need to be afraid of linking to sites whose scale shows only a tiny sliver of green on their scale. These sites have not been penalized, and their links may grow in value and popularity. However, do make sure that you closely monitor these kind of links to ascertain that at some point they do not sustain a penalty once you have linked up to them from your links page.

Another evil trick that illicit webmasters use to artificially boost their link popularity is the use of hidden text. Search engines usually use the words on web pages as a factor in forming their rankings, which means that if the text on your page contains your keywords, you have more of an opportunity to increase your search engine ranking than a page that does not contain text inclusive of keywords.

Some webmasters have gotten around this formula by hiding their keywords in such a way so that they are invisible to any visitors to their site. For example, they have used the keywords but made them the same colour as the background colour of the page, such as a plethora of white keywords on a white background. You cannot see these words with the human eye - but the eye of search engine spider can spot them easily! A spider is the program search engines use to index web pages, and when it sees these invisible words, it goes back and boosts that page's link ranking.

Webmasters may be brilliant and sometimes devious, but search engines have figured these tricks out. As soon as a search engine perceive the use of hidden text - splat! the page is penalized.

The downside of this is that sometimes the spider is a bit overzealous and will penalize a page by mistake. For example, if the background colour of your page is grey, and you have placed grey text inside a black box, the spider will only take note of the grey text and assume you are employing hidden text. To avoid any risk of false penalty, simply direct your webmaster not to assign the same colour to text as the background colour of the page - ever!

Another potential problem that can result in a penalty is called "keyword stuffing." It is important to have your keywords appear in the text on your page, but sometimes you can go a little overboard in your enthusiasm to please those spiders. A search engine uses what is called "Keyphrase Density" to determine if a site is trying to artificially boost their ranking. This is the ratio of keywords to the rest of the words on the page. Search engines assign a limit to the number of times you can use a keyword before it decides you have overdone it and penalizes your site.

This ratio is quite high, so it is difficult to surpass without sounding as if you are stuttering - unless your keyword is part of your company name. If this is the case, it is easy for keyword ensity to soar. So, if your keyword is "renters insurance," be sure you don't use this phrase in every sentence. Carefully edit the text on your site so that the copy flows naturally and the keyword is not repeated incessantly. A good rule of thumb is your keyword should never appear in more than half the sentences on the page.

The final potential risk factor is known as "cloaking." To those of you who are diligent Trekkies, this concept should be easy to understand. For the rest of you? Cloaking is when the server directs a visitor to one page and a search engine spider to a different page. The page the spider sees is "cloaked" because it is invisible to regular traffic, and deliberately set-up to raise the site's search engine ranking. A cloaked page tries to feed the spider everything it needs to rocket that page's ranking to the top of the list.

It is natural that search engines have responded to this act of deception with extreme enmity, imposing steep penalties on these sites. The problem on your end is that sometimes pages are cloaked for legitimate reasons, such as prevention against the theft of code, often referred to as "pagejacking." This kind of shielding is unnecessary these days due to the use of "off page" elements, such as link popularity, that cannot be stolen.

To be on the safe side, be sure that your webmaster is aware that absolutely no cloaking is acceptable. Make sure the webmaster understands that cloaking of any kind will put your website at great risk.

Just as you must be diligent in increasing your link popularity and your ranking, you must be equally diligent to avoid being unfairly penalized. So be sure to monitor your site closely and avoid any appearance of artificially boosting your rankings.

Bookmark this article:
Article Source: http://wah-articles.work-from-home-directory.com/
About the Author
John Hayward is the Editor at www.add-articles.com to find more advice about Search Engine Rankings then visit the Add-Articles.com Article Directory. Many smaller businesses with limited resources are likely to find themselves at a disadvantage due to the constant algorithm changes.

At the end of March '06, Google completed another algorithm update called "Big Daddy". Algorithm changes are made on a regular basis by Google-sometimes twice a year-with the aim of getting the best results for Google search users.

What will this latest change mean to you and your website? For some of you it will make very little difference, for others it will impact considerably because the number of pages from your website listed within Google's search results will have diminished.

This article focuses on just one element of the March '06 "Big Daddy" update-the importance of getting external websites linked to yours, and how Google indexes websites across the internet.

Google uses link popularity as a measure to determine how often they will 'crawl' a website. Links have always been a strong measure of how Google ranks a website, but in the past this measure has been more geared towards determining PageRank and the order in which a web page is listed in Google search results.

What do I mean by indexing? Google uses an automated crawler called the Googlebot to find websites across the internet. For new websites that are not currently indexed by Google, Google relies heavily on finding these new websites through links from existing websites within its current search database. For existing websites the Googlebot visits websites already indexed within its database. If Google has already previously indexed a website, then it will generally be faster to index other pages within your website.

Google has introduced an additional complexity through its Big Daddy update. One thing many site owners have noticed since the end of March is that many pages from their websites have vanished from Google's index. Google have said that with this recent update they are placing more weight on 'crawling' external links from websites that they classify as being important. The more external links you have pointing towards various pages within your site-not just your home page-, the more likely Google will crawl these pages and find other pages within your website.

Google's webmaster guidelines state: "In general, webmasters can improve the rank of their sites by increasing the number of high-quality sites that link to their pages." http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=34432&hl=en

Why are quality links so important? If Google doesn't 'crawl' all your pages, then you will have no chance of having all your website content appear in Google's search results. This means that you may have important information within your website that Google users will not find. At one stage it was enough to have your home page indexed and the rest of your website through a user-friendly website structure that the 'crawler' could follow. In the new environment however, that is no longer enough.

The best way to find which pages of your website Google has within its database is to type "site:www.yourdomain.com.au" into Google. This will bring up a listing of all your website results in Google's index.

Note:." To show all of your results you will most likely need to click on the link of the last page that says "repeat the search with the omitted results included"

External links pointing towards every single page within your website are not necessary, however make sure that external links point towards important pages within your website, and that your website structure is well linked to other parts of your website. The Googlebot can easily crawl other pages from there.

An easy to follow navigation structure is vital for search engines, but more importantly for human visitors. Make sure that each page within your website has a clear link to the most relevant pages within the navigation structure. These individual pages should have clear links to relevant sub-pages. This way, you are satisfying both your visitors who are the most important when it comes to your website and the search engines.

Basic and important elements to help your site get indexed:

Create a sitemap with all your website pages listed. Keep the appearance of this page simple. The simpler it is, the less code a search engine needs to filter. Example sitemap: http://www.sydney-directory.com.au/sitemap.php

Create a Google Sitemap. Google sitemaps make it easier for your site to be picked up by Google, although it does not guarantee inclusion within Google's index. https://www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps/

A Clear website navigation structure. The larger a website becomes, the more difficult it is to manage. A clear website navigation structure is achievable, although it will take careful planning and organising. Microsoft is a perfect example of a large website with a simple, easy to follow navigation structure. www.microsoft.com

For a business with limited resources the constant algorithm changes can be quite frustrating, however if you focus on building relevant links to your website as well as relevant content, when the algorithm changes are made, then any changes will have less impact on your website.

This article doesn't cover everything that has changed in the recent Big Daddy update; however you need to be aware of this important change. If you have the time and patience, you can find out more information on these recent updates in Matt Cutts' blog. Be prepared for some serious reading time as this is a very long post. http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/indexing-timeline/

If your website layout is not effective, contact your web designer or SEO specialist to find out how they can help improve your website layout for both your website visitors, as well as the search engines.

Bookmark this article:
Article Source: http://wah-articles.work-from-home-directory.com/
About the Author
Andrew Seidel of Quantum Web Solutions Sydney provides SEO advice on how to attain the best results from your web site through careful design and SEO.

<trackback:ping>http://todayseo.com/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=247&key=334d784e</trackback:ping>

The Google Sandbox How To Get Early Parole

What Is The Google Sandbox

The Google Sandbox is an algorithmic filter designed by Google and implemented around March 2004 with the purpose of weeding out spam sites by placing all new websites under quarantine for a period of assessment.

How Does The Google Sandbox Affect Your New Site?

Although the Google sandbox was designed with the primary aim of targeting spam sites, in reality it affects all new websites. The general consensus in seo (search engine optimization) circles is that the Google sandbox algorithm functions to prevent new sites from blasting their way to the top of Google (using whatever means possible) and in effect overtaking quality websites that have been around for years.

Who Goes Into The Sandbox?

Google is a non-discriminatory organization--well anyway at least as far as the Google sandbox is concerned--so all and sundry are equally invited to the sandbox party.

How Long Will Your Website Remain In The Google Sandbox?

As far as Google is concerned not all sandbox invites are equal. Certain factors will determine the length of your stay in the Google sandbox. If the keywords your website is targeting are highly competitive then your website will be quarantined for longer. If you think about it, this approach makes sense. Most spam sites have one goal...to make as much money as quickly as possible. So accordingly the average spam site will target big profit keywords which naturally tend to be more competitive.

Following this thinking, if your website focuses on keywords and markets that are not very competitive, your stay in the Google sandbox will be considerably shorter.

It appears though that, irrespective of factors such as good on-page optimization, incoming backlinks and original content, the average duration in the Google sandbox is 3 months.

How D'You Know You're A Bona Fide Guest To The Google Sandbox Party?

They are a finicky lot those Google folk. They don't want just anyone at their Get-Togethers! So they employ a posse of mean looking bouncers to ensure you're not some pesky gate crasher! These bouncers check thoroughly to make sure you have the proper credentials required to be at the Google Sandbox bash. These credentials include:

New Website
Having good Google page rank (PR) but ranking poorly for primary keywords
Having Google page rank without being in Google's index
Having good number of inbound links yet ranking poorly for primary targeted keywords
Having good homepage page rank but zero PR for your inner pages
Things To Do While Frolicking In The Google Sandbox

Like most other situations in life, here you have a number of choices.

You can sulk, fret, stamp your feet and moan and groan that the Google sandbox party sucks

...or you can get into the swing of things and utilize your time effectively:

Go ahead and add quality content to your fledgling site.
Work on increasing the number of inbound links (quality links not just any ole link)
Tweak and improve the search engine optimization quality of your site
Write articles
The list of things to do while sweating and grinding at the Google sandbox getdown is limitless.

The purpose of doing these things is that by the time you're released from the Google sandbox, your website will rank much better for those competitive keywords you're targeting and will have better SERP (search engine rank pages) listings than your competitor's site with similar characteristics...

...because instead of doing what you did, the owner spent the time bemoaning and lamenting the fact that their site had been hijacked by those tricky Google folk.

Shorten Your Stay In The Google Sandbox

Okay no one can deny it...those Google guys sure can throw one heck of a party! And so they should! If you've got that kinda cash and can't throw a decent bash...well you get the picture.

But let's be honest...who in their right mind wants to stay in the Google sandbox forever?

Question is... is it possible to cut short the time spent frolicking in the golden crystal of Googleland's sandbox?

One cannot say with absolute certainty (after all, a lot of seo speculation is just that...informed speculation) because, in the same way that Coke doesn't go out of its way to divulge the secret ingredients of its formula, neither does Google fully spill the beans on its algorithm.

However doing the following has been observed to shorten a site's duration in the Google sandbox:

Register your domain name for more than one year (spam sites are rarely registered for longer than a year)
Upload your site for live viewing as soon as possible even if it isn't ready for prime time (content-wise). Tweak the content later on or on-the-fly. The logic here is that the spiders will crawl your site sooner. An added bonus is that as your perfect and change your content it will register positively to the search engines as constantly changing content (think blog).
Maintain good-practice seo-linking campaigns . By doing this you will be killing two birds with the same stone. You see seo community speculation has it that Google has another filter in place to dampen the effect of newly acquired links. The thinking here is that the new inbound links are not allotted full value immediately, in an effort to counter the habit of buying links and other link purchasing schemes. So if you started your acquisition of quality links while your site was still in the Google sandbox, by the time its paroled, you'd have drastically reduced the so-called new-links dampening factor.
Start Your Quality Links Campaign

Bookmark this article:
Article Source: http://wah-articles.work-from-home-directory.com/
About the Author
Ba Kiwanuka runs http://www.internetbusinessmart.com

<trackback:ping>http://todayseo.com/cmd.asp?act=tb&id=239&key=18f11bca</trackback:ping>

SEO Strategy That Worked Third Place Google Ranking in Three Weeks

My experiment in SEO started when I got an email with a title something like, Little Known Secrets of SEO Ranking Revealed. I was skeptical but the cost of the "secret" was quite low and it came from a source that I have found to be credible, so I bit. The "secret" is basically outlined in Step 1, of the following 5 steps. I added the other steps and my experiment worked. My site had a third place ranking when searched in Google, after only three weeks.

Step 1 - Register a Domain Name that Matches a Search String

To make it easier to find a domain name, I bought some software that searches for names that correspond to search strings. Of course, most words in most languages are already registered as domain names. But the software did turn up a few strings that had a reasonable number of searches and had not been registered as domain names. So I picked a couple. I am a golfer and enjoy reading articles about golf on free article sites. So I picked a domain name related to golf, christmasgolfgift.com and registered it.

Step 2 - Build Site and Add Content that Matches the Site Name

I used a site builder that I quite like and am quite familiar with, so I had a site on line in a couple of days. I don't sell golf gifts, so I had to find some content for the site. The site builder I use makes it easy to cut and paste articles from sites that offer these, so I set to work. In a couple of hours, I had a site filled with quality articles related to golf. I then joined some golf related affiliate programs and added these to the site.

Step 3 - Write Some Articles and Get Some Back Links

The next step was to get some back links. Since I enjoy golf and enjoy writing, it was not hard for me to start cranking out some golf related articles. I wrote some articles about places I had golfed recently, golf related things that truly interest me and experiences I was having on the course, and submitted these to article sites. Some articles I submitted directly and some I submitted using some submission software I bought. I also saved some time by using an article writing tool that came with the submission software. In total in the next week or so, I had about a dozen articles accepted by about a hundred sites, which at last count, yielded 11 back links recognized by the search engines.

Step 4 - Submit Google Site Maps

The site builder I use has built in Google site map and a built in site map submission tool, so this step was easy and took about twenty minutes. I also submitted the site to Yahoo and MSN, and found a free submission site that submitted to several smaller search engines.

Step 5 - Fine Tuning

I found an article written by Howard Kaplan, "10 Things No One Ever Told Me About Getting My Web Site Listed" helpful for some fine tuning of the site. Tips like making sure the page names and title tags match, making sure that keywords match meta tags and so on, probably helped. I have to admit I have been a little sloppy in the past and this time, I made sure the site did not contain any errors.

I kept checking with Google, MSN and Yahoo, and after a couple of days, the web site had a decent ranking on some related search strings with MSN. In three weeks, the web site had a third place ranking when the search string, christmas golf gift was used. Of course, I may have to wait a bit, since it is the middle of summer, to see if I get any significant traffic for the site. In the meantime, my little experiment seems to have worked, and I am getting a lot more traffic, in less time, than I ever have with a new web site in the past. Over this last weekend, I built another site to see if I can duplicate the experiment. I will let you know what happens.

Bookmark this article:
Article Source: http://wah-articles.work-from-home-directory.com/
About the Author
Ron Strand is a college instructor, consultant and golfer.
