Why Top Ranked Sites May Have Few Backlinks

Karl Sultana - There are many reasons which I shall identify.

One is that, the particular keyword may seem competitive for you, but it's not, so few backlinks are going to make the "trick". You just found a gem maybe.

Did you make the search with quotes? You will not see the top competitors when using quotes with your keyword. Visitors nowadays do not use quotes to search. When entering keyword in search box to see the competitors do not use quotes.

The other answer may be that you used an outdated tool to check for backlink count for your competitors. Google does not show all backlinks - so you should use Yahoo Site Explorer. Google hides most of the backlinks in the supplemental index.

Stop Words & Other Important Keyword Information

William Bradely - Stop words are common words that are ignored by search engines at the time a search is conducted. This is done in order to save space on their server, and also to accelerate the overall search process.
When a search is conducted in a search engine, it will exclude the stop words from the search query, and will use the query by replacing all the stop words with a marker. A marker is a symbol that is substituted with the stop words. Again the intention is to save space. By doing this the search engines are able to save more indexed web pages in that extra space, as well as retain the relevancy of the search query.

Besides, omitting a few words also speeds up the search process. For instance, if a query consists of three words, the Search Engine would generally make three runs for each of the words and display the listings. However, if one of the words is such that omitting it does not make a difference to search results, it can be excluded from the query and consequently the search process becomes faster. Some commonly excluded "stop words" are:

after, also, an, and, as, at, be, because, before, between, but, before, for, however, from, if, in, into, of, or, other, out, since, such, than, that, the, these, there, this, those, to, under, upon, when, where, whether, which, with, within, without

Easy Way to Increase your Conversion Ratios

Gurdeep - This is also where a lot of people go through and get confused and they go I need a 10--12-percent keyword density; you know that's--you don't want to do that. Your keyword density should be--well in fact, I'm one to always state you want to be very careful of who you listen to and where you get your information because I'm a Big proponent of you build a quality site first and the traffic will come naturally just because of how--how you built it, as long as you have a very good SEO foundation.

I'll give you some quick numbers here that in fact we got through and we pull and we--we research and target the--all the major engines very, very closely. For example, the--the density in the content itself in Google has been about one to two-percent over the last eight months. For more details go to www.seo-prediction.com .Go over to MSN and MSN ranges from two to four- Percent and over at Yahoo it ranges from two to five-percent. So the--with those numbers you can basically state--is well if you're within two to three-percent you're going to be okay. You start getting above that And the search engine will think that you're what are called spamming. You're trying to go through and keyword stuff that pays to make the page increase. I've got--I've got data that shows that if you go through and--and make those numbers too high you'll start to fall in Google because Google looks at those numbers very, very closely and--and they want to make sure that the page is relevant. They don't want you know someone going to the search results pages and finding--finding garbage. Certainly not least--because I'm sure many more of these terms. You know it's funny you should--you should say that. That's probably the best place to--to start, because again if the search engine guru is not high listed then why are you bothering trying to hire them to do the same for you? That's one place to start; the second is talk to associates, talk to--if you have a good relationship of not necessarily with your competitors but with people close to your industry ask them who they would recommend. To know more about it logon to www.huge-niche-keywords.com .A rate that's just--it's almost doubling you knows every single year. For--for a Fortune 500 firm the numbers that I've seen range between 13 and 22-percent.

Simple SEO Tips That Well Help Increase Your Search Engine Rankings

Rene Smith - You don't have to be an SEO or Internet marketing expert to know the value of search engine optimization in modern websites. The Internet is an increasingly competitive marketplace and it's important that you do all you can to stand out. You can spend thousands of dollars employing other people to increase the traffic to your website or you could follow a few simple tips and boost your visitor's numbers quickly and cheaply by yourself.
Lets get one thing out in the open straight away, Google is your friend, and if they aren't yet then they should be. Google has a huge market share when it comes to searches made on the Internet and you need to be aware of this. Depending on what type of site you have, a large proportion of your visitors (especially first time visitors) will probably come directly from search queries made through Google. The better your site is optimized for various Google search criteria the better it will perform and the more resulting visitors you will have. This point can not be stressed enough, Google plays a huge role in determining how successful your website will ultimately become, make friends with Google in an SEO sense and you will make friends with thousands of potential customers in no time.

One of the things Google likes most is original content, try not to use too much duplicate content in your websites as it will have a negative effect on your rankings. Writing new material isn't that hard, especially when you are writing about things you know about, keep things fresh and make sure you continue to add new material to your site long after uploading the first version. You don't necessarily have to delete previous work as the more content you have on your site the better, perhaps an archive section can be used as the home of previous articles and content.

Another good tip is to keep things simple, you might have aspirations for beautiful and creative Flash animations that wow first time visitors but in the long term they tend to be more trouble than they're worth. In general, website visitors are after tools, resources and information, however impressive your graphics or Flash animations may be, users aren't on your site for that reason. A case can be made for website designers to include such content but it's hard to justify for anyone else, especially when it can have a negative effect on SEO. As they currently function, search engines have a hard time recognizing content in Flash form, you may be missing out on valuable searches because search engines can't 'see' your content.

How To Avoid The Google Sandbox

Karl Sultana - Well first of all remember that Google Sandbox is a term or a description. It's not a location or a place!

When your website is no longer useful according to Google, your rankings won't increase! When that happen, some refer to it as being Sandboxed.

How to get Indexed by Google and What is PageRank (PR)

Takumi_86 To calculate the PageRank for a page, all of its inbound links are taken into account. These are links from within the site and links from outside the site.

PR(A) = (1-d) + d(PR(t1)/C(t1) + ... + PR(tn)/C(tn))

That's the equation that calculates a page's PageRank. It's the original one that was published when PageRank was being developed, and it is probable that Google uses a variation of it but they aren't telling us what it is. It doesn't matter though, as this equation is good enough.
